Hi everyone!

Term’s starting up again. (Do I hear loud groans out there?)
If it’s enough comfort, there’s at least ONE thing you can look orward to ;)
That’s the NUS Nihon Buyo Club Welcome Tea Sem 1 09-10
We had such fun at the last welcome tea, we hope the next one’s at lest just as fun, if not more so!

This time we’ll reveal our new dances (those of you who came for the JSS Camp would have had a sneak peek)

It’s also the perfect opportunity for those of you who actually hope to have your 5 minutes (ok, maybe less) on stage!  You heard it here first: NUS Nihon Buyo Club, in collaboration with JSS, Sado Club and NUS Koto Club “KotoKotton”, will be part of the first ever Japan Cultural Night in October. We’re looking for dancers–guys as well as girls–to come join us, especially for Zeni Daiko and Soran Bushi, two lively folk dances.

So, if you’re interested in that, or if you just want a taste of what Nihon Buyo is like, do keep the evening of 18 August free!

Further details to be confirmed later :)

Welcome Tea AY 0809 Sem 2

February 15, 2009

Wow, nearly 3 weeks have passed since our welcome tea! Photos are finally uploaded =)
A big thank you to all those who stayed back in school to come for the welcome tea. Special mention goes to the CLS Japanese senseis who joined in the fun too!

We demonstrated two dances, Matsu no Midori and Zenidaiko, but the highlight of the evening was, I daresay, the hands-on zenidaiko session!
Zenidaiko sure looks easier than it really is…so people, please be more forgving if anyone drops her zenidaiko mid-dance! (half kidding)

Photos:

Having fun with hands-on zeni. Watch out for the flying zenidaikos!

Gravity Unleashed 2009

January 24, 2009

Gravity Unleashed, a Japanese karaoke competition organized by the J-Music Circle, took place on 21st January 2009 and we were invited to be guest performers for the opening act. The J-Music Circle is also a fellow sub-club of JSS. Although it was quite unfortunate that we didn’t get any airplane tickets (first prize!), we had a lot of fun!

Concentrating on not dropping the zeni daikos.

VP in action.
